What is the ATPL and what is it used for?

ATPL stands for Airline Transport Pilot Licence and is the standard license for a career as an airline pilot. The training program follows the EASA regulatory framework for pilot licenses and includes the theoretical preparation required for the ATPL(A).

In the course of a professional career, the term Frozen ATPL is commonly used to refer to a situation where a pilot has passed the ATPL theoretical examinations and obtained the licenses and ratings necessary to begin working, but has yet to accumulate the experience required to attain a Full ATPL.

The Full ATPL allows one to serve as captain in commercial air transport.

Among the ATPL flight schools in Italy, Asteraviation offers a modular program with training in Verona and the option to complete some of the coursework via distance learning.
